Thomas Hickman bap 19 April 1709 St Brides Fleet, of Thomas and Mary in Queens Arms alley. He was apprenticed to Joseph Read, with whom he had a dispute “T Hickman wishes himself and Jos Read to be bound over to the County Sessions, as not expecting justice here, meaning this Incorpoacon. It seems to have been done” [Descriptive Catalogue of the Charters, Minute Books and other Documents of the Borough of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis, ed by Hy Jos Moule, 1883] Thomas was a shipwright’s apprentice in 1723 and a shipwright at Deptford 1745 to 1747. Thomas married Sarah Wilson 1708-1742 on 28 Dec 1730 at Melcombe Regis Sarah from Wyke Regis was daughter of Thomas Wilson and Sarah Alford.
Thomas married secondly Frances Corbin 1720 on 9 Sept 1744 at Wyke Regis.
