Biography

Elmer Pearl Hiestand was born on 30 Jun 1887 in Hancock County, Ohio;[1] he was the son of Amos Hiestand and Elizabeth Clifford.[2]

In 1900,[2] Pearl E. Hiestand (age 13, born Ohio) was living in Rawson Village, Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio in the household of his father, Amos Hiestand (age 55, born May 1845 in Ohio), with his mother, Elizabeth Hiestand (age 54, born Sep 1846 in Ohio), and with his Hiestand siblings, born Ohio (age, sex): i) Joseph F. (27, M), ii) Asa J. (20, M), iii) Noah A. (16, M), iv) Annie May (21, F); also in the household was Amos' brother, Gideon HIestand (age 59, born Aug 1840, M, single), and 2 boarders. Amos' occupation was a laborer. Elizabeth had born 10 children, 8 of whom were currently living.

In 1910,[3] Elmer P. Hiestand (age 22, born Ohio) was living in Rawson Village, Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio in the household of his father, Amos Hiestand (age 67, born Ohio), with his mother, Elizabeth Hiestand (age 62, born Ohio), and his sister, Anne HIestand (31, F, single). Amos' occupation was a laborer. Anne's occupation was a servant to a private family. Elmer's occupation was a laborer on the railroad.

On 4 May 1912 in Hancock County, Ohio,[4] Elmer Pearl Hiestand married Lillian E. Devinney. Elmer's parents were Amos Hiestand and Elizabeth Clifford. Lillian's parents were James Devinney and Isadore Beaitigam.

On 5 Jun 1917 in Hardin County, Ohio,[1] Elmer Pearl Hiestand (age 29) registered for the World War I Draft. Elmer was born on 30 Jun 1887 in Hancock County, Ohio. He was currently residing in Forest, Ohio. Elmer's occupation was a baker, and he was employed by L. V. Snider of Forest, Ohio. Elmer was married and had a son; and he claimed an exemption from military service based on these dependents.

In 1920,[5] Elmer P. Heistand [sic] (age 32, born Ohio) was living in Forest Village, Jackson Township, Hardin County, Ohio as head of household with his wife, Lillian E. Heistand (age 25, born Ohio), and their son, Ross C. Heistand (age 6, born Ohio). Elmer's occupation was a baker in a restaurant.

In 1930,[6] Elmer P. Heistand [sic] (age 42, born Ohio) was living in Tiffin City, Seneca County, Ohio as head of household with his wife, Emma L. Heistand (age 36, born Ohio), with their son, Ross C. Heistand (age 16, born Ohio). Elmer's occupation was the proprietor of a candy store.

In 1940,[7] Elmer P. Hiestand (age 52, born Ohio) was living in Tiffin City, Seneca County, Ohio as head of household with his wife, Emma L. Hiestand (age 26 [sic], born Ohio), with his son, Ross C. Hiestand (age 26, single, born Ohio). Elmer's occupation was a baker in the baking profession. Ross's occupation was a clerk in a cigar store.

In 1950,[8] Elmer P. Hiestand (age 62, born Ohio) was living in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio as head of household with his wife, Emma L. Hiestand (age 56, born Ohio). Elmer's occupation was a custodian of a college property. Emma's occupation was an information clerk at a hospital.

Elmer P. Hiestand died on 6 Sep 1970 in Broward County, Florida.[9]
