Bartley married his wife, Tabitha Oliver, 10 Jan 1811 in Elbert, GA.
Bartley Higginbotham owned the land surrounding the Eavenson Cemetery. On Dec 1, 1856 Bartley & Tabitha sold 200 acres of this land to their son, Seaborn J. for $750. The same day, Seaborn J. and wife, Nancy C. Higginbotham sold the same "200 acres with the reservation of half acre where the grave yard is situated" to Seaborn's brother-in-law, Willis Eavenson for $2,000.
Thus the "grave yard" eventually became known as Eavenson Cemetery rather than Higginbotham Cemetery.
Based on Desoto Co Probate records, it appears that Tabitha died in 1861, the year following her husband's death. Some Higginbotham family trees indicate she died in March 1861; however, no documentation was given.
Although there is no marked grave for Tabitha in Eavenson Cemetery, it is almost certain that she is buried there in an unmarked grave. He is the son of Joseph Higginbotham and Frances Higginbotham. [1]
