Birth and Parents: Matty M. Hildreth was born about 1862 in Alabama. Her date of birth is an estimate based on the 1870 United States Census record in which she is enumerated as eight years old in the household of William C, Hildreth and his wife Emely and is presumed to be their daughter.

Research Notes

There is a record of the marriage of a Mattie M. Hildreth to John W. Williams in Covington County, Alabama on 6 Aug 1896. Covington County is where the Matty M. Hildreth profiled here lived when she was enumerated in the 1880 United States Census.^[3] 1910 and 1920 United States Census Records of the household of John W. Williams with wife Mattie (born about 1867-1867) residing in Covington County, Alabama have also been examined. On the 1910 Census a niece named Minnie Hildreth is listed as living in the household which might provide some evidence of connection between this Mattie M. Williams to Matty M. Hildreth^[4][5] There are no other records found so far to definitively link this Mattie M. Hildreth/Williams to Matty M. Hildreth, daughter of William C. Hildreth.
