William Himes was born 25 Mar 1813 in Tennessee to John Heim Polly Kizer [1]
He married Sarah Sykes Cates about 1833. in Bedford County, Tennessee. This couple had the following children, Amy Hime b. 1835, Daniel K Sykes Hime b. 1836, Henry Hastings Hime b. ca 1837, James Harison Hime b. 1841, Alfred W. Hime b. 1843, Mary Hime b. ca 1844, Frances Elizabeth Hime b. 1848, George Trousdale Hime b. 1851, Sarah C. Hime b 1853. [1] [2] Sadley William lost his oldest child with15 days after she was born in 1835. He also lost his daughter Sarah C Himes at about a year and a half old. William's wife Sara passed away on January 22, 1855 in Bedford, Tennessee.
William married 2nd Alsey Pollock in 1856. Together this couple had the following children: John Robert Hime b. 1856, Christopher Columbus Hime b. 1858, William Anderson Hime b. 1860, Milton Franklin Hime b. 1862[1] [3]
In 1839 William was taxed on 73 acres of land with a value of $350 in Bedford County, Tennessee. [4]
In 1861William joined the Confederate Army. He was a Private in Company B, 17 Tennessee Infantry. He was killed March 11, 1863. Not sure if in a battle or like many of the other soldiers due to infection or sickness. [5] [6]
William is buried at Hasting Campground Cemetery, now called New Hope.
