Obituary of Claytus Harry Hinckle
Claytus H "Tator" Hinckle, 70, of Route 2, Hancock, MD, died Friday, August 12, 1988, at Washington County Hospital. Born in Hinckle, VA, he was the son of Odus Mifflin and Florence Irene Hovermale Hinckle. He was retired owner/operator of Hinckle's Liquor Store in Hancock. He was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church near Hancock. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was also a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26, American Legion of Hancock.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene M Douglas Hinckle; two daughters, Dixie L. Mason of Berkeley Springs, and Marlene M Murray of Hancock; two sons, Claytus R. Hinckle and Terrance L. Hinckle, both of Hancock; two sisters, Ruth A Cain of Penns Grove, NJ, and Anna L Leighty of Careney's Point, NJ; two brothers, W. Fred Hinckle of Hancock and Garth D. Hinckle of Great Cacapon, WV; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 15, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Philip McLain officiated. Burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
