Biography

Esther was born in Crondall Hampshire in 1846. She is the daughter of William Hoar and Ann Arundell. Esther was christened in Crondall on 6 December 1846.

At the time of the 1871 census, Esther was residing in the Robert Fill household in St George the Martyr (Canterbury) Kent, where she was working as a servant.

In 1876 in Canterbury, Esther married James Burt, a wheelwright. The couple would become the parents of 5 children who were born between 1877 and 1883. At the time of the 1881 census, the family was residing in Sonning Town Berkshire but sometime prior to the 1891 census, they migrated to Plumstead Kent, where they would remain thereafter.

Esther passed away in London on 22 November 1924 at about age 78. She was interred at Greenwich (London) on 29 November 1924. Husband James survived until 1929.
