William Hobbs Sr. is a part of US Black heritage.

William was born November 27, 1879 in Clinton, Sampson, North Carolina, USA. He is the son of Richard Hobbs and Luella Mariah Stevens Hobbs. WIlliam is listed in the 1880 census at 6 months old, with his parents and siblings in Hall, Sampson County, North Carolina.

William married Julia Idella Weldon prior to 1910. He is listed in the 1910 census as married, age 31 years, and with children, living in Precinct 23, Escambia, Florida. At that time he was working as a cooper in a turpentine camp. By 1930 the family was living in Bell, Colleton, South Carolina where WIlliam was a building carpenter at age 50 years,

The couple had at least five children together.

William Hobbs, Sr. passed away in 1953 in Avon Park. He is presumed to be buried in Avon Park, most likely in the old Lincoln Gardens Cemetery.
