Samuel Hock was born in Illinois.
Samuel Hock was a Missourian.

Samuel Clarence Hock was born on January 24, 1886[1] in Claytonville, Iroquois County, Illinois. His father was William "Frank" Francis Hock and his mother was Catharine Sarah Reeves.[2]

In 1900, he lived in Central, Franklin County, Missouri. His father has passed away, and he lived with his mother and two sisters (Myrtle and Lyda).[3]

In 1910, Samuel lived on Lindell Avenue in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Missouri. He rented a room and lodged with John William Hock (apparently no relation). There were six other lodgers living there, a servant and John's Son and his family. In total fifteen people lived in the home. Samuel worked as a Barber to earn a living.[4]

In 1913, Samuel married Nancy Elaine Honea in Bourbon, Crawford, Missouri. After their marriage, he lived at 1145 Aubert Avenue in St. Louis (Independed City), St. Louis County, Missouri. Samuel worked as an inspector at Wagner Electric Company. At age 25, he had a slender physical appearance, tall in stature, with black hair and dark gray colored eyes.[5]

In the 1920 census Sam (age 33), Laborer, was the married head of household in Boone, Crawford, Missouri.[6]

Sometime before 1924, Samuel divorced Nancy and he married Mattie Matilda Davis in Missouri around 1924. In 1930, he lived in Wilson, Greene County, Missouri. He rented his farm house and worked as a postman delivering rural mail. He owned a radio set which was considered a luxury item at the time.[7]

In 1940, he lived in Republic, Greene County, Missouri. He owned his own home, valued at $1,800. He worked as a mail carrier to earn a living.[8]

In the 1950 census Samuel (age 64), Rural Mail Carrier, was the married head of household in Republic, Greene, Missouri, United States.[9]

Samuel died of coronary thrombosis (blood clot) on July 4, 1966 in Republic (Griffith Rest Home), Greene County, Missouri.[2] He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Republic, Greene County, Missouri.[10]

His family was on their way from Indiana to Forsyth, MO, when his father died near St. Clair, MO. HIs mother stayed in St. Clair living there until her death. Sam grew up in St. Clair. He worked as a barber and a mail carrier. [11]
