When 1st wife, Kathleen Ada Anderson, died, a memorial was erected in Congressional Cemetery with Joseph Frederick Hodgson's name on it. In the end, he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery with 2nd wife Madolin Smithson.
Most of his life was lived in D.C. and in Bladensburg, MD. There was a time in the 1920's (recorded in 1923 city directory, specifically) when he was living in Rochester, NY where his younger brothers Millard and Clifton were. A year later he was already dead before his 46th birthday.
Elsie Gleason, brother Millard's wife, was so taken with her brother-in-law Major Hodgson that a few years later she named her son Joseph Frederick Hodgson. DNA testing indicates that this later Joseph Frederick Hodgson was not, in all probability, a Hodgson, but nothing is certain until current-day Hodgsons are tested and their results known to us Elsie Gleason descendants.
