Daughter of Nancy Kikerand James Holcomb. In 1860 census shows Mary living with her Maternal Grandmother Sally Kiker in Marshall co., AL. Her mother Nancy Kiker Holcomb passed away in October 1862.
Mary and John Bedford were married on March 18, 1875 in Erath Texas. It was a marriage that her Grandmother Sallie did not approve of. Her family did not think that John Bedford was well off enough for Mary. (Story passed down by Claudia Clawson Galyen - Mary's great granddaughter) Mary's father married two weeks later to a woman who was only 4 years older than Mary Falona. Mary was a very kind grandmother. She was a wonderful seamstress and made beautiful dresses for her granddaughters. She was a very kind hearted person. Her husband left for Texas to work in the oil fields locating oil leaving his wife, son and two daughters. Grandma lived at Uncle Ab's home on College Ave with Aunt Hattie and Aunt Dickie. When Uncle Ab married Aunt Minnie, Grandma Mary, Aunt Hattie and Aunt Dickie moved out.
