Sidney was born in 1828. He was the son of Moses Holcomb and Elizabeth Mann.
He married Amanda Smith (1834–1911). They had the following children:

He passed away in 1917. Buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Yale, St. Clair County, Michigan.
Sidney Holcomb, 91, one of the first settlers in Brockway township, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. B. Jones south of the city Monday afternoon. Death was due to kidney and bladder trouble. He had been ill for about one year.
Mr. Holcomb came to this part of the state more than 60 years ago, and has lived here ever since, in the township until about 25 years ago when he moved to the city with his wife and family. Since the death of his wife a few yeas ago, he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Jones.
The other children still living are Orlando, of Brockway township; Frank, of Spokane, Wash; Hiram, of Yale, and Mrs. Ira Goheen, of Florida. The funeral services will be held Thursday from the M. P. church and burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
