John Holforde[1]
Sir John Holford, Sheriff of Flintshire, Justice of the Peace for Cheshire was born in 1482 at Holford, Cheshire, England,
He was the son of Sir George Holford[1] and his wife, Isabel Leigh.[2][3][4] He was knighted in 1529-30 (21 Henry VIII).[5]
He married Margery Brereton[1] on 20 April 1507. Margery was the daughter of Rauffe Brereton, Esq,[1] and his wife, Joan.
In 1509, a deed from George Holforde knight to Rauffe Brereton, esquire, was an agreement for a marriage between John Holforde son and heir of George and Margery daughter and heir apparent of Rauffe, and the settlement included manors in the Counties of Salop [now Shropshire], Chester and Flint.[1]
