Biography

I will be able to help you. William Thomas McMurry who married Sarah Adaline Hollis was the son of Jesse and Sophia (Foster) McMurry. Jesse and Sophia McMurry had 9 children and lived in Leake County, Miss. They are buried in the Blocker Graveyard near their home place near Edinburg,Miss. They only have markers with their names on them. William T. McMurry and wife Sarah McMurry are also buried there. William has a Civil War marker, but his wife Sarah doesn't have a marker. There are also several sandstones that have the names of some of the children that William T. and Sarah McMurry had that died. I have information on all the children of Jesse and Sophia McMurry. 1. McMurry is your line. His son Larkin McMurry remained in Leake County, Miss. and is buried in Remus Church Cem. W.T.'s sons Jesse and Charlie moved near Hattisberg, Miss. When I was in college at U.S.M. several years ago I met a son of both Jesse and Charlie and got some information on the families. William T. McMurry's wife Sarah Hollis was the daughter of Andrew Dotson Hollis and Emily (Fowler) Hollis. She had 4 whole brothers and sisters and 12 half brothers and sisters by her father Andrew D. and his second wife Martha (Drewitt) Hollis. Nearly all of A.D. Hollis's children are all buried in Mars Hill Cem., Edinburg, Leake County, Miss. I am currently writing a Hollis book that will be ready this May. I have alot of McMurry information also.
