Biography

Victor Holroyde was born in Elland, Yorkshire, England.

Victor was born in Elland, Yorkshire, England, on October 31, 1893.^[1] His birth was registered in Halifax. He was the son of Thomas Holroyde and Hannah Brearley. He was baptized on November 4, 1894 in Rastrick, Yorkshire, at St Matthew.^[2] The Parish Register listed his date of birth as October 31, 1893, his parents as Thomas and Hannah residing in Elland at Upper Edge, and his father's occupation "Iron Moulder". He was enumerated in the 1901, ^[3] and 1911 census ^[4] residing with his family in Elland. In 1911 he was seventeen and a "French Polisher Furniture".

Victor was a member of the British Army in World War I. He attested on February 3, 1916 and was attached to the 89th Battalion, Training Reserve, Service Number 77361. ^[5] No discharge date found.

Victor married Sarah Sheffield on October 1, 1918, at the Baptist Chapel, Upper Edge, Elland. ^[6] It appears the couple had at least two children. Victor and Sarah appeared in the 1939 Register^[7] residing at 2 Common Road, Elland. His occupation "French Polisher". One daughter, Brenda, born 1931 listed as well as one redacted entry at residence.

Victor passed away on August 8, 1892.^[8] His residence at time of death was 5A Banks End Road, Upper Edge, Elland, West Yorkshire. His Probate was administered on October 15, 1982 in Leeds.^[9]
