Biography

James & Hannah Holt's son Timothy was born in Andover, Massachusetts, on 25 January 1683.

William Chandler Jr., 3rd child of William and Annis Chandler, was born in England and died at Andover, Massachusetts in 1698, aged about 65 years. He married first Mary Dane of Andover, who was born in Ipswich about 1638 and died May 10, 1679. Five months after the death of his first wife, William Chandler married Bridget Henchman, Oct. 8, 1679, dau. of Major Thomas Henchman of Concord and Chelmsford. Children: Rhoda, b. Sept. 26, 1684; m. April 19, 1705 Timothy Holt.(p. 758-9)^[1]

Rhoda Chandler m. Timothy Holt. He was b. in Andover 25 Jan. 1683; d. 4 March 1758, son of James and Hannah (Allen) Holt and grandson of Nicholas Holt Sen. who came to America 3 June 1635 from Romsey, England. (p. 40)

Probate

In his will written 6 June 1754 (probate 27 March 1758), Timothy Holt bequeathed to beloved wife Rhoda the east end of the dwelling house from the bottom of the cellar to the top of the chimney. She also receives the improvement on all his money and notes and a lengthy list of other provisions for her support. The provisioning of wife Rhoda is entrusted to his son Timothy. Son James receives all the lands and buildings where he now dwells. Son Timothy receives the homestead land and buildings where father Timothy now dwells. Youngest son Joseph receives £16 with what he has received for his learning is his full portion. Daughters Rhoda, Priscilla, Hannah, and Phebe each receives thirteen shillings four pence together with what each received at time of marriage is their full portion. James and Timothy were named executors. Real estate was valued at £792.12.8 and personal estate £109.8.6.^[2]

Rhoda Holt b. ___; m. 13 Nov. 1728 Elias Whittemore. Settled at Pembroke NH in 1738.

Priscilla, b. about 1709 (child named in father's will with indication that she is married). She is mostly likely the Priscilla who married Nathan Chandler. It is most often given that Priscilla daughter of Oliver Holt married Nathan Chandler but there is no evidence that Oliver Holt had a daughter Priscilla.

James Holt b. 11 Dec. 1711.

Timothy Holt b. 10 April 1714; d. July 1798; m. 13 Feb. 1739, Harriet Dane. She d. 6 Feb 1802. Five children.

Joseph Holt b. 16 April 1714; d. 20 Aug. 1714. Twin.

Joseph Holt 2d. b. 11 Feb 1718; d. Aug. 1789 at Wilton, NH; m. 1st 17 Jan. 1745 , Dolly Johnson. She d. 30 Dec. 1753, a. 35, leaving six children; m. 2nd, 10 April 1755, Mary. wid of Mr. Russell. She left 7 children.

Phebe Holt b. in Andover 1 June 1722; m. 11 Jan 1712 Francis Phelps.

Hannah Holt, b. ___; d. 2 Aug. 1775 a 66; m 22 March 1733, Barrachias Abbot. He was b. 14 May 1707; d. Oct. 1784, son of Dea. John and Elizabeth(Hardin) Abbot. Twelve children.
