Birth and Parents: Voyce Tyson Hooks was born on 07 August 1931 in Alabama. There is a slight discrepancy between the date of birth on his Social Security record (05 August) and that engraved on his gravemarker (07 August).^[1][2] His parents were Elihu Hooks (1880 - 1935) and Allie Rebecca (Hildreth) Hooks (1889 - 1974).

1940 United States Census, Enumeration District 18-11, Brooklyn Conecuh County, Alabama: In the indices of this record, his first initial is rendered as a "J," but the way the enumerator formed his "V" could have been mistaken for a "J."^[3]

Marriage: Voyce Tyson Hooks and Louelle Mask were married on 04 August 1955, in Escambia County, Alabama.^[4]

Military Service: According to his gravemarker, he was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He enlisted on 09 February 1953 and was discharged on 08 February 1955.^[5][2]

Death: Voyce Tyson Hooks passed away on 06 November 1988. He was 57 years old.^[1] He was buried in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Paul, Conecuh County, Alabama.^[2]
