Biography

Emma Hooper was born in 1858 in Shelby County, Texas to Oba Hooper and Eunice Bourland. [1] She married John R. Allison, a Cherokee, about 1878. In 1880 they were living with her parents and had a child, listed as "O.F." (who apparently died young) on the census. [2] John returned to the Cherokee Nation and was readmitted to citizenship in 1887. He moved his family about 1889. [3] John and Emma were the parents of Willie, Elmer, James, John[4] Mary, and Una. [5] Emma died in 1893 and is buried at the Fairview Cemetery, Mayes County, Oklahoma. [6]
