When Simpson was about 19 he married Elizabeth Porter in 1873 at an unknown location. The couple had 10 children: Edward Lee Horn, America D Ann Horn., Harriett S Horn., Isabell Horn, Darby C Horn., Kate Horn, Edward Amos Horn, Willie Horn, May Horn and Pearl Horn.[2]
In the 1870 census Simpson (age 17) was living in Township 20 Range 6, Clay, Alabama.[3]
In the 1880 census Simpson (age 27) was living in Chandlers, Talladega, Alabama, United States.[4]
In the 1900 census Simpson (age 47) was living in Precinct 18 Poll Bridge, Clay, Alabama.[5]
Simpson died at the age of 62 on 10 September 1915[6]
