Ruth married Moses Houghton on 16 January 1803 in Acton, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA. The couple had 10 children: Elijah Houghton, Mariah S Houghton., Susan Houghton, Samuel Houghton, Aaron Houghton, Richard Whitcomb Houghton, Samuel H Houghton, Martha Houghton, Ruth Houghton and Moses Houghton.

Ruth was born on 22 February 1817 in Norway, Oxford, Maine, USA. She was the daughter of Moses Houghton and Martha (Haskell) Houghton.^[1]
