Fannie (House) Hickman is a part of US Black heritage.

Fannie was born in 1874. She was the daughter of Wesley House and Martha House. She passed away in 1948.

On 16 June 1880, Wesley and Martha House and their children Ida, Mary, Fannie, John W., and Louvinia lived in District 18 of Rutherford County, Tennessee. Wesley and Ida were laborers on a farm and Martha was keeping house. Wesley and Martha could not read or write. Ida, Mary, and Fannie had attended school in the last year.[1]

On 21 June 1900, Van and Fannie Hickman and their children James, Sallie, George, Hattie M., Laura, and Martha, as well as Van's sister Fannie Gilliam lived in Civil District 13 of Rutherford County, Tennessee. Van was a general farmer.[2]

On 19 April 1910, Van and Fannie and their children Jim, Sallie, George, and Hattie Mae; nieces Calarla[?] and Pearl Lilling; and boarder Albert Hayner lived on Bradyville Pike Road in Civil District 13 of Rutherford County. Van was a home farmer, as was Jim, George, and Pearl. Fannie and Calarla[?] were washing clothes outside the home.[3]

On 13 January 1920, Van and Fannie Hickman; their children Sallie and George, Van's sister Fannie Gilliam, and her daughter Pearl lived at 303 E. Sevier Street in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee. Van was a farm laborer, Fannie, Sallie, and Fannie Gilliam were laundresses, George was a cafe waiter, and Pearl was a seamstress.[4]

On 12 April 1930, Van and Fannie, daughter Sarah, and granddaughters Francis Colman and Margie Brown lived at 303 S. Memory Avenue in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County. They rented their home for $12 a month. Van was a concrete brick laborer, while Fannie and Sarah did laundry at home.[5]

On 24 April 1940, Fannie lived in Murfreesboro with daughter Sallie Hickman and granddaughters Francis and Elna Coleman. Sallie did laundry and Francis housework.[6]

Fannie died from an acute coronary occlusion on 14 May 1948 in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee.[7]

She was buried in the Benevolent Cemetery in Murfreesboro.[8]
