Biography

William, son of John and Ann Howard, Blowick, was born 10 May 1806 and christened 1 Jun 1806 in North Meols, Lancashire.^[1] Note: the parish record is slightly distorted, but the bishop's transcripts give the date as 10 May 1806.^[2]

William married Elizabeth or Betty Rimmer in Halsall on 19 Apr 1830.^[3] His wife Elizabeth was born in Scarisbrick in about 1812.

In 1841, William and his family were living in Halsall.^[4] By 1851, they had moved to Scarisbrick, where William worked as a farm labourer.^[5] They later moved to Birkdale, where William worked as a gardener.^[6][7]

William died on 14 Feb 1887. He shares a stone at Duke Street Cemetery in Southport with his wife Elizabeth, sister Sarah and brother-in-law and Enoch Hodge, as well as Cicely, daughter of William and Margaret Howard.^[8]
