He married Emily[8][6] Dorilla[2][7][5] Johnson[9][1] about 1901[4] and the couple had the following known children:
Hassie Lee[1] Howell was born 19 Nov 1902[1] in Smith County,[1] Mississippi.[4]
Troy Levell[1] Howell was born 19 Nov 1902[1] in Smith County,[1] Mississippi[4][5] and died 23 Aug 1949 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[1]
Venus[1] Howell was born 30 Apr 1908[1] in Smith County,[1] Mississippi.[4][5]
Howard Braxton[1] Howell was born 23 Jan 1910[1] in Smith County,[1] Mississippi.[4][5][6]
Lexie Merle[1][6] Howell was born 03 Sep 1913[1] in Smith County,[1] Mississippi.[5]
Dimple[6] Marie Howell was born 07 Jul 1919[1] in Smith County,[1] Mississippi.[5] She died 28 Jul 2013 in Magee, Simpson County, Mississippi and was buried in Mize, Smith County, Mississippi.[9]
John died 16 Dec 1967[3][1] at his home in Mize , Smith County, Mississippi[10] and is buried in Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Mize, Smith County, Mississippi.[8][1]
MAGEE -- John F. Howell, 85, of Rt. 3, Mize, died Saturday night at his residence after a long illness.
Services will be held at 10a.m. Monday at the Mims-Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel here with burial in Zion Hill Cemetery in Smith County.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. John Howell of Mize; a son, Howard Howell of Mize; four daughters, Mrs. Hessie Daughdrill of Jackson, Mrs. Thomas Anderson of Mize, Mrs. Prentiss Walker of Mize and Mrs. J. W. Lee of Hattiesburg; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Clark of Mt. Olive; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.[10]
