Referenced as the son of Penellopy Munden Howell in Deed of Gift of Slave from John Munden to his daughter Penellopy Munden and upon her death to be divided between her four sons, John B. Munden, William B. Munden, Joseph Howell and Thomas Howell.
Proof of marriage of Joseph Howell and Penellopy Howell established by Claim filed in 1807 wherein Joseph Howell sued Lodowick Ashley on behalf of his wife Penellopia Munden Howell for return of a slave named Daniel.
