DISPROVEN:
In past, some genealogists thought that George Howland was the son of Samuel Howland and Abigail Moon; however, it has presented a problem with the unknown identity of his father who was not recorded on the record of his birth. Now it is disproven, so he is not the son of Samuel Howland and Abigail Moon.
George Howland was the son of Abigail Howland, widow, and was born on 28 February 1755 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island. The identity of her father was not recorded.[1]
His mother, Mrs. Abigail Howland, widow of the unknown decedent, cannot be identical to Mrs. Abigial (Moon) Howland, widow of Samuel Howland who was missing at sea since 1748 and presumed to be dead sometime after 1748 because his wife waited too long for him upon his return home from the sea for five years, but he did not return home in 1753.
The identity of his father remains unknown.
