Susan M. Brock, daughter of Elijah and Mary Hudson, was born in Pike county, Mo., July 28, 1829 and died at the home of her daughter, in Lockhart, Texas, Feb. 10, 1898 aged 68 years, 6 mos. 12 days.
When about 19 years old in company with her father's family she came from Missouri to Texas settling near Bastrop where she lived one year, then coming to Lockhart where she has since resided, except two years spent in Missouri. At the time of her death she. was one among the oldest settlers of our city.
On the 8th of September 1849, she was united in marriage with William H. Brock who died in 1864. This union was blessed with four children, three of whom preceded the mother to the spirit world. She was converted and united with the Christian Church, about thirty-five years ago and has ever since lived a devoted and faithful Christian life. She was always in her place in church at public worship when able to be there. She lived close to her Savior and died in the blessed home of a glorious immortality. She has left to us the rich legacy of a noble Christian example. X.
In the 1870 and 1880 census, Susan is living with her mother, Mary Hudson, who indicates she is from Kentucky.
