Wayne was born in 1921. He was the son of Chester Calvin Huff ( 27 Mar 1900 Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana - 5 Mar 1958 Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana[1] and Elsie Arizona (Gaskins) Huff (31 Jan 1896 Washington Township, Monroe County, Indiana - 2 Dec 1940 Washington Township, Monroe County, Indiana.[2] His great-great grandmother was Angelina "Gelina" Huff, born about 1825 in Indiana, daughter of Philip and Margaret (Snuffer) Huff. The father of Gelina's son, William Francis Huff (5 May 1849 Indiana 11 Apr 1928 Monroe County, Indiana) was unknown. According to family legend, Gelina refused to tell anyone who her son's father was, and her son carried his mother's surname.
Wayne was a WWII veteran, serving as a Petty Officer, 2nd Class on the USS Pinto from 16 Sep 1942 to 6 Nov 1945. He passed away in 1990.
