Biography
Thomas was born in 1841. He was the eldest son of Ellen Maria and Dr. Edward Larwill Humphries.[1] He emigrated to New Zealand as a child on the Sir Edward Paget in 1850. The family settled in New Plymouth and Thomas became a cadet in the Survey Department, eventually becoming Surveyor-General for New Zealand.[2] Thomas married Martha Ann Ward in 1864.[3] He passed away in 1928.[4][5]
