Biography

Baby Jennie was born to Jennie and Duncan Hunter. Two years later, Duncan Hunter, a Scottish stonemason, staked his claim to 80 acres of forest land. He and his wife, Jennie Stephenson and their two sons, built a log cabin. That land is now a park near 36th Avenue W in Lynnwood, called Pioneer Park. Hunter worked on Masonry projects and worked in logging camps and mills. After loggers cleared the trees on his land, Duncan planted apple and cherry trees. Duncan Hunter is also credited with building a school in 1895 in Alderwood Manor. It was built on his homestead.
