Biography

First married to James Madison Shackelford in Circleville, Ohio circa 1839. He was a Methodist minister. Family moved to Indiana. Then on to Clay County Missouri. He deceased her in 1855. She then married Hiram Crenshaw and raised her children and his. After Mr. Crenshaw's death, she join household with her daughter Mary Hahn. Died and is buried in Mt. Hope. Unmarked grave.

In US Census 1900, Caroline Crenshaw was widowed and living with Mary Hahn, in Holt County, Missouri. She claimed her father's birthplace was Ohio and mother's birthplace as unknown. This differs from her father, James E. Hurst, being born in Maryland.
