Biography

William Henry Hurst was born on 12th September 1866 at South Rhine in the Eden Valley, South Australia to Charles Alfred Hurst (Hurst-1100) and Barbara Young (Young-11065). He was the 3rd of their 8 children. In 1885, he was a Mail Driver around the Jamestown district (in South Australia's Mid North). On 13th September 1893, at the home of Mr John Sampson in Nantawarra, South Australia, William married Rosina Jane Sampson. Together they had 4 children. In 1912, he owned & registered a car: 22.5 Ford, SA Rego: 14624. Around the 1930's, he was a farmer around the Balaclava district and was also on the Balaclava Council. William passed away on the 19th September 1941, aged 75 years. He had lived at Long Plains, Balaclava and was buried at the Balaclava Public cemetery.
