Biography
Jean was born 16 Dec 1781. She passed away about 1868. Jean's parents are William Hutton and Catharine Rob. Her baptism record gives their place of residence as Balir. This is believed to be an abbreviation for Blair Drummond - see the Ordnanace Survey name books for Perthshire 1858-62 [1]
When Jean married Alexander the record stated that they were both from the parish of Kincardine.
Jean appears as Jane along with Alexander in the 1841 census living at Moss Side, Kincardine (Perth), Perthshire. The children with them are William, Andrew, James, Catherine and Jane.
By the 1851 census Jane is Jean and she Alexander have moved to Doig Street, Kincardine (Perth), Monteith, Perthshire. Alexander is a farmer of 30 acres employing one man and one boy. The children still with them are James and Jean (Jane)
In 1861 Jean is now a widow, still at the farm in Doig Street, Kincardine, Perthshire. With her is her son James who has taken over the farm and her grandson George Moir, 7 years old, who was born in Glasgow. (Find My Past- [2])
On her death record Jean's name is again Jane. The record is correct, naming her parents, her predeceased husband and that he was a farmer and also getting her age righ at 84t. Cause of death is given as "Decay". Her son John registered her death.
