Biography

Robert was born in 1764. His parents were William Hutton and Catharine Rob.

When Robert and Janet married on 1st August 1790 they had the marriage recorded in both the parish of Kincardine and Kilmadock. This was not an unusual arrangement and probably indicates that Janet or Robert may have been living in different parishes,

In the 1841 census Robert and Janet are living at Blair Drummond, Kincardine, Perthshire. Robert's age is given as 75, his occupation is wright. Janet's age is given as 65. None of their childfen are with the, but there are three children whose relationship to the Huttons is not known - Jean Millar, 16, born Perthshire, John Turnbull, 8 born elsewhere in Scotland and John Culleen, 8, born Perthshire. Blair Drummond and its associated Blair Drummond Cottages are in the Ordnance Survey Name Books 1858-62 and are described respectively as "A substantial & handsome mansion-house four story, and in good repair, Property of Henery Home Drummond Esqr." and "A number of very handsome cottages slated and in good repair, Property of Henery Home Drummond Esqr."
