Gertie (Huxley) Barry was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

Gertrude Huxley, married name Barry, was born on 15 September 1887 in Erskineville, New South Wales, Australia. She was the daughter of Arthur Thomas Huxley (1843–1925) and Sophia (Adlard) Huxley (1845–1938). Her birth was registered in the Newtown district. ^[1]

Baptism. Gertrude and her sister Lily were baptised on 2nd October 1887 at Erskineville Holy Trinity, the daughters of Arthur Huxley, Produce merchant of Erskineville Road, Macdonaldtown, and his wife, Sophia. Gertrude's date of birth was recorded in the register as 15th September 1887. Lily is shown with the same particulars but she was born in 1885. ^[2]

Marriage. On 22nd April 1906, Gertie (18) married David Joseph Barry in Sydney, New South Wales. David was aged 28, born on 26 Jul 1877 in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, the son of Patrick Barry and Margaret (McDonnell) Barry).^[3]

Their known daughter was:

Death. Gertie died on 28 Nov 1955 in Bondi, New South Wales, aged 68.
