Katharine was born in 1710. She is the daughter of John Inglis.
On 10 October 1729 she married Alexander Oliphant, Town Clerk of Kelso.
This marriage was recorded in the parish of Kelso in September, and on 10 October 1729 it was also recorded in Lasswade parish, which is the parish for Katharine's family home at Auchindinny.
The family settled in Edinburgh in 1739, where Alexander died in 1742, leaving his wife very little.
Katharine outlived him by 35 years. According to Inglis (1914) she lived in a lodging in Edinburgh, "very dependent on her brother George" [Inglis].
She died in 1778.
