Ohhh. I have a mystery for you and Trudy. Went to Herman Funeral home to see if they had info on Eliza Inman. They didn't.....but buried in the Inman plot is Janet Inman, a stillbirth born/died on April 19, 1936. Who is that??? Who was her parents???

As far as the baby I don't know anything for sure. It's just a guess but was probably Jeanette. She graduated in 1935 & had went steady with Melvin Stadel during high school. He had a restaurant in Savanna after high school & she worked there for awhile, don't remember for how long. They broke up but I have no idea when. She would have been just over 18 & me just over 9. Back then kids didn't know much & they would try to keep something like that from us. I didn't even realize that Mom was pregnant with you Lyman. I remember Mom said they took me & Gertrude over to Leland's to stay. I remember telling the kids at school that I had a baby brother & they didn't believe me. When I was sorting things out when the folks had their sale I found a letter from Maxine Diffenbacher to Jeanette & she asked how the baby was, don't remember the date but was after graduation & she was out of town, probably working or going to school. So that's just a guess. How about you Gert, did you ever hear anything? Jeanette neverdid show much when she was pregnant & she may have been in Savanna. The restaurant in Savanna was the one Maude Shores had & there was apartment was upstairs. I know she wouldn't have went back & forth every day. There's probably not too many people around anymore that would know. It's no wonder that Jeanette was kind of depressed sometimes.

About Janet Inman - Guess Bern must be right - Of course I never heard
anything about it - if Bern was 9, then I was either 6 or 7. The name is
similar though - Janet & Jeanette. The date was after she graduated in
1935, almost a year later - must have been a full term baby to be buried.
Also Jeanette used to baby sit for Clyde & Ruth Herman, so probably they
kept it quiet also. Wonder who else would have known about it - I bet
not many people. I remember that Jeanette used to help out at the Shores
Restaurant and Mom would take her for a weekend when they had special
days there in Savanna. I never knew that Mel Stadel worked there though.
Wonder where he went to when he left Schapsville? I know Jeanette
always had his Annual and Ardath always thought she should give it back,
so one year when she went to Illinois with me we took it over to Ardath
and said here see that he gets it! Jeanette and Melvin and Ardath and
