Marriage Certificate of John Irving to Margaret Paterson (1884), shows Father's name as James Irving (deceased) with the profession of shoemaker.
Baptims Record: Parish of Cavers 1823 Parish Ref No 785-00. Walter Irwin of Acrum and Isabel Tinline his wife, had a son born at Ancrum on the of 10th May 1821 and Baptised in Dunholm by the Rev Levine on the 25th August with the following names James Blair Kennedy.

Jame Irvine, shoemaker, died 4th September 1899 at 4.30pm,. Fathers names Walter Irvine, master Joiner, deceased, mother Isobella Irvine (Tinline). Died of Senile decay. Reported by his son James Irvine of 4 Albion Place, Wilton who was present at death. Reported 11 September 1899.
James was first married to Jane Bassett and 2nd to Isabella Spalding; stated on death certificate.
