Jane died of senile dementia and hemiplegia on June 4, 1891 in Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire, aged about 81.[7] Her husband and son predeceased her and she was cared for by a nurse (M Maxwell) who reported her death so there are no details of her parents. She was a widow but husband's name was recorded. He was James Jardine, surfaceman.
