William Ernest Ivison was born on 22nd October 1911 in Dungog, New South Wales, Australia. He was the eldest child of Harry Ivison and Mary Kell. [1] The family later moved to North Sydney, and then to Bexley, in Sydney's south.
On 12th May 1941 in Bexley, William enlisted in the Commonwealth Military Force, his nation's Army Militia, for the fast-escalating Second World War. Upon enlistment, he reported to the Arncliffe Training Depot for his basic training as a soldier. His final posting, as a Gunner, was to the 2/1st Anti Aircraft Operations Room, before being discharged on 18th May 1944. [2]
Aged about 65 years, he passed away in 1976 in New South Wales. [3]
