WILLIAM R. JACKSON was born December 17, 1769 in North Carolina. Most of the related Jacksons who settled near him were from either South Carolina or Virginia.
The name of William R. Jackson's parents are not known. We do know that William R. and his brother, Benjamin were in Georgia when their first few children were born.
William R. Jackson first married Mary Humphries. It would have been around 1794, as their first child, Elijah Jackson was born in 1795 in Georgia. Their second child, FRANKLIN JACKSON was born in 1797 in Georgia.
Mary Humphries died before 1807.
William R. Jackson remained in Georgia until after 1807. He drew land in the 1807 Georgia Land Lottery. It is not known if he ever took possession of this land, as some of the men who drew land in the lotteries sold their land before taking possession.
He moved with his family to Kentucky in late 1807 or early 1808. They were living in Warren County, Kentucky in 1810. He and his second wife had five (5) children, besides Elijah and Franklin, at that time.
William R. Jackson was Justice of the Peace and was instrumental in helping to form Allen County, Kentucky from Warren County in 1815. In 1820 and 1830, he is listed on the Allen County Census.
It is believed that William R. Jackson died in 1847, age 77, and is buried in Allen County, Kentucky. [1]
