Samuel Jackson was born about 1830 in Donaghmore, County Down, Ireland.
He arrived in South Australia in 1852 on board the Amazon from Plymouth, with his sister Sarah Jane, and also another relative William Jackson and wife Nancy.
On 20 May 1856, Samuel Jackson married Rose Cleary at his residence in Kenton Valley (nr Gumeracha).
Samuel Jackson died 10 April 1878 at Kilkerran (Yorke Peninsula) aged 48. His death notice in the South Australian Register reads:
"JACKSON.— On the 10th April at Kilkerran, Samuel Jackson, late of Truro, from erysipelas, aged 48 years ; respected by all who knew him."[1]
He was buried at Maitland. The inscription on his headstone reads:
In loving memory of Samuel Jackson Beloved husband of Rose Jackson Who died at Kilkerran, April 10th 1878 Aged 48 years ??? Erected by his family[2]
I believe that Samuel Jackson , Sarah Jane Jackson, Mary Jackson, William George Jackson and Rebecca Jackson are siblings, and that they are related to (but not siblings of) John Jackson and Robert Jackson.
