Biography

Frederick was born in 1844. He was the son of Benjamin M. Jackson (1819-1888 and Harriet Bradley. He passed away in 1925.

1Lt. Frederick Randolph Jackson was an American Civil War Medal of Honor recipient and received the award for actions while serving as a Sergeant with Company F, 7th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. His citation states that the award was for his bravery at James Island, South Carolina on June 16, 1862, and reads "Having his left arm shot away in a charge on the enemy, he continued on duty, taking part in a second and a third charge until he fell exhausted from the loss of blood". His Medal was awarded to him on an unrecorded date in 1863.

His rank of first lieutenant is shown. It shows an Imprisonment Date of 16 Jun 1862 at James Island, South Carolina.
