Biography

Richard William James was born at New Plymouth in Taranaki, New Zealand on 6th July 1863[1], the tenth child and eighth son of John Johns James and his wife Anne Phillips.

Richard died in New Plymouth when he was 10 months old. Although Taranaki Cemeteries Burial records say he died on 2nd May 1864, the official New Zealand Government Register of Deaths shows he actually died on 3rd May. [2] [3]

This child's dates of birth and death, and the age at which he died, vary considerably from the family tree information given to quite a number of [more distant?] relatives over time. Birth and death dates, and his age at death as recorded on the official New Zealand Registry of Births and Deaths have been corrected on this profile, as at 3rd June 2022.
