Biography

Richard William James was born at New Plymouth in Taranaki, New Zealand on 6th July 1863^[1], the tenth child and eighth son of John Johns James and his wife Anne Phillips.

Richard died in New Plymouth when he was 10 months old. Although Taranaki Cemeteries Burial records say he died on 2nd May 1864, the official New Zealand Government Register of Deaths shows he actually died on 3rd May. ^{[2] [3]}
