JAMES—BARNES.—[Silver Wedding.]—On the 13th April, 1904, at Wesley Church, Castlemaine, by the Rev. E. Watson Nye, the Rev. Thomas Pollard James, of Fremantle (W.A.), to Henrietta May Barnes, of Castlemaine. (Present address, the Parsonage, Mordialloc.)[3]
No children were born to Thomas and Henrietta.
Thomas was 68 years old when he died at his home in Belgrave on 21 November 1938. [4]

One of the early pioneers who contributed a great deal to the spread of Methodism in Western Australia and Victoria in the early days passed away in the person of the Rev Thomas Pollard James, 68, retired Methodist minister, at his home, "Daylmaine," Blair road, Belgrave, on Monday morning. In the early days the deceased was a well known figure in the goldfields of Western Australia, where he lectured to the gold seekers. After his retirement the deceased came to Belgrave, and recently he has been engaged in home mission work. The deceased is survived by his widow. Mr Jack Webb, of Belgrave, is a cousin. A service was conducted in the Methodist Church, Belgrave, on Tuesday by the Rev Boquest, and the funeral took place to the Burwood cemetery.[5]
He was buried in the Burwood Cemetery, Methodist area, section 8, plot 099. [6]

Thomas was a Methodist Minister. Uniting Church records in Perth WA record his service in in Daylesford and other parishes in VIC. He was later in Kalgoorlie WA and the surrounding gold fields, spreading the faith by bicycle from camp to camp. During his time in WA he performed the wedding service of his brother Charles Henry James and Helen Carding Cocking in 1902 or 1903. He was married but had no children.
Following his death, his widow commissioned a baptismal font in his name. It can be seen at the Uniting Church in Daylesford VIC.
