As Joseph James died in June 1887 he cannot be the natural parent of James Walter b 1884.

Yes I have Joseph Andrew's birth certificate. I was always told he was adopted out to Andrew and Alice Park. And indeed that is the name he used all his life. His father Joseph tragically drowned 2 months before Andrew was born. I'm thinking that Mary gave him up bc of the tragedy but it seems strange. I have no info regarding any other siblings.

I've just looked on NZ bdms there is; b 1887/5344 James, Joseph Andrew, Mary Joseph. Please confirm this person is Bessie's brother then I can load a profile for him. I think there is another brother; b 1884/13212 James Walter Percy Mary Joseph. xx C
