Biography

Jan Peter Jansson was born in Backa, Stora Malm Parish, Södermanland County, Sweden, 8 Jul 1806.^[1] He was the son of Johan (Jan) Jansson and Stina Andersdotter.^[1] He had these siblings, all born in Backa: Eric, born 10 Jan 1798,^[2] Anders, born 26 Oct 1800,^[3] and Carl, born 23 Jun 1809.^[4]

By 1822, Jan Peter and his birth family had moved to Nafvertorp, also in Stora Malm Parish.^[5] There, in Nafvertorp, 2 Mar 1823, his 22 year-old brother, Anders, died of some disease connected to fluids, accompanied by fever.^[3] Less than three months later, his 49 year-old mother died in Nafvertorp, too, of "burning disease" (disease with fever), 1 Jun 1823.^[6]

Jan married Anna Maja Pehrsdotter in Stora Malm parish, Södermanland, 5 Oct 1828.^[7]
