Katharina Janzen was born 29 November 1868 at Neuhorst, Chortitza colony, South Russia. She was the oldest child of Jacob P. Janzen and his second wife, Katharina Klassen.
Katharina married Gerhard Epp on 17 October 1889 at Baratov colony, South Russia. They had twelve children.
On the evening of 1 March 1944 Katharina died of pneumonia at home on the farm near Rosthern, Saskatchewan. She was buried in Eigenheim Cemetery, Rosthern.[1]
