DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
WILLIAM JARRETT a son of JOHN JARRETT and his wife, ANNA MARIA (HAAS), was born circa 1734 and would have been about 21 years of age at the time of his father's death in 1755. It is believed he left the area about this time. He is not included in the Macungie tax list with his five brothers. JOHN, EDWARD, ISAAC, PHILIP and SAMUEL.
To date, the only information available on WILLIAM is that found in a brief JARRETT family sketch included in VOLUME X of COLONIAL & REVOLUTIONARY FAMILIES OF PENNSYL VANIA by Wilford Jordan (pages 23 & 524):
"WILLIAM settled in Goochland County, Virginia, and had a son DAVID who married in 1780 ANNA WADE"
This marriage record, which includes the name of DEVEREUX JARRATT as witness and surety, indicates there may very well have been a relationship between WILLIAM and DEVEREUX. They may, in fact, have been cousins. Much has already been conjectured by other family historians on the name DEVEREUX in the JAPRETT-JARRATT genealogy. This writer, in light of the Macungie JARRETT'S belief that their background was French, holds that DEVEREUX may have been the maiden name of the wife of one of the early Virginia JARRETTS. If this were true, then only the branch of the JARRETT married to a DEVEREUX would continue the use of this name, explaining why it does not appear in the Macungie family or their descendants.
