At the time of the 1901 Census Arthur is living in Granley Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire with his parents and siblings[3]
At the time of the 1911 Census Arthur is recorded as a Grocer's Assistant boarding in the household of James Plant in Weybridge, Surrey; also recorded in the household is his brother Reginald Hawker[4]
In 1912 Arthur married Hilda May Rambridge in (probably Weybridge), Chertsey RD, Surrey[5]
