Mary was born in 1835. She was the daughter of George Jeffery and Martha Cliff.

She sailed from Plymouth, England, on the 16th August 1865, on the 'Lady Milton', arriving on the 29th of November, 1865 at Port Adelaide, South Australia with her husband and son.[3]
She passed away in 1877 and on 24 June 1877 was buried at the Eaglehawk Cemetery, Bendigo, Victoria, Mon K - Grave Number 64. [4]
